I flew into the future with the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i

For a dozen or so days, I replaced my gaming console with a top-of-the-line laptop so that I could play like I used to. On the keyboard and mouse. What a nice experience it was! The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i laptop did the trick, and not only at home. The real future has knocked on my heart and it’s not about the selection of titles I chose to test.

Do you like this feeling of jumping from the old generation to the new one? I really enjoy. I remember exactly how excited I was when I replaced my NES with an Amiga 500. I also clearly remembered switching from my old computer to PS4. It was something. And now… I experienced something like that again. I replaced my current laptop with a completely new device – Lenovo Legion Pro 7i . Now computers do that. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

This is the future

Thanks to the courtesy of Lenovo, I was able to enjoy their newest toy for some time, a gaming laptop. And what could I do with him? Well, of course I played! The selection of test titles was not random. It was Cyberpunk 2077 , System Shock Remake and Starfield . I was especially interested in the latter, because my personal laptop is not able to get much out of it.

I finally was able to play Starfield on ultra without any major problems / private archive

I don’t know anything about hardware nuances, so I won’t cover you with a technical speech explaining to you all the details of how this laptop works. Because it works incredibly well! All titles played without stuttering at the highest settings. For me as a player? Fairy tale. It will be a pity now to go back to the old computer.

A laptop for special tasks

Let’s make an appointment. The fact that the games would run fine on a machine with such parameters was not surprising. Currently, no matter what you run on this computer, it will run like a dream. That’s why I preferred to focus my assessment on whether it is good to use a gaming laptop.

The screen takes up the vast majority of the display, making it appear as if it’s hanging in the air/own materials

You must know that during the tests, the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i laptop accompanied me for almost three weeks during my stay in difficult conditions on the Baltic Sea. Of course, the water wasn’t a threat to him, but poor access to electricity was. I worked on it, played games, processed photos. I did a lot of things while sitting at a rickety desk. And I felt comfortable all the time.

Hush, hush

This comfort was due to several things that I liked, but also my crewmates. One such element was the device’s volume. Everyone who has played on gaming laptops at least a little bit knows how loud these devices can be. Typically, players have no problems with this. They put on headphones and that’s it.

For a device with such capabilities, the Legion Pro 7i is quite quiet / own materials

This wouldn’t work for me, because my noise could be a nuisance to the crew members with whom I slept in the same room. Fortunately, the Lenovo machine turned out to be very quiet for a laptop for special tasks. Only after returning I found out that this was due to Legion Coldfront 5.0 , an innovative cooling system.

Comfortable writing

I’m not a pro gamer, so someone might say that I don’t care about the quality of the keyboard. But I’m a writer, so comfortable keys are something I always pay attention to. I won’t lie to you, I still prefer my Bloody B810R mechanical keyboard.

But I admit that for laptop keyboards, the LegionPro 7i works really well. The laptop is equipped with a quite decent built-in Legion TrueStrike keyboard, where the key travel is 1.5 mm. Quite decent for a portable device!

Moreover, the whole thing is backlit by Legion Spectrum software, and there are 6 basic backlight combinations by default. And each of them looks great. And the backlight under the main deck also does the job. Anyway, check out the video above.

The laptop is also equipped with a numeric keyboard, which is always very important to me because I often enter various types of numbers. And it’s much easier for me to perform such operations on the numeric keyboard. And here is one more note, just like in my personal laptop, the Spacebar key also reacts a bit too weakly for my taste. You have to press it hard to make the impulse go further.

Vision and sound

The display made a very pleasant impression on me. It took up the vast majority of the screen, which made it seem a bit larger than it actually is (16 inches). As I read later, the screen takes up 93.6 percent. display surface – and everything is clear.

The Lenovo PureSight display does the job and shows everything that happens on the screen in incredible detail. Built-in HDR means that whether I was roaming around Night City in the sun-drenched streets or flying Bebop around star systems in Starfield, it was always a pleasure.

I can say the same about the built-in speakers. SteelSeries’ Nahimic system highlights what’s happening on the screen. However, I will not hide the fact that I really felt their quality only after playing music on the Legion Pro 7i . The characteristic notes of punk rock and power metal sounded very good on this inconspicuous device!

The laptop is nice, but it is easy to get dirty / own materials

I also really like the laptop itself visually. The key backlight does the job, and the elegant lines bring to mind the body of the Land Rover Defender. Although the painting is a bit different. If I had to complain about something, it would be the fact that it is very easy to leave marks on the main display. Look at the screen at the top, I didn’t wipe it on purpose before taking the photo.

Powerful equipment for demanding customers

It’s a pity to part with this equipment, which most of the time was used only for writing. I didn’t have much time to play in the sea. Nevertheless, I do not consider the dozen or so hours spent in the three previously mentioned titles to be wasted. It was pure pleasure!

If you can afford such equipment, and at the same time you care about quality, ecology* and that everything runs smoothly… then Lenovo Legion Pro 7i will be a good choice . Below are the parameters for fans of technological details and the last warning. The laptop does not have an SSD card reader, so if you have one for cameras… you need to buy an adapter 😉
